It does not set out to debunk Christianity. There is some truth in that. He may not reinvent the wheel when doing those lectures. We must throw off the shackles of antiquity and re-examine the scriptures in ejrman light of reason, history, and faith.
But some of the differences are flat-out factual contradictions or irreconcilable disagreements over various theological points.
